Resto Rave : BubbleBee Cafe

I've heard the name somewhere before but ever since I went on going out hiatus, I didn't bother telling my friends that we'd try out the place. Last Saturday, due to the insistent invitation of my friend Riva that we'd all go out with my college friends, I finally got to check out the place which had great ambiance reviews. The place did not disappoint me; the ambiance was cozy and interesting. At the parking place, you'd notice right away the running water on the glass walls of the second floor and the interesting circle shaped lights forming into a chandelier-like roof decoration at the al-fresco portion of the cafe. Bubble bee's first floor : Counter

Irene, Mercy, Erieech, Riva, Elena and Kring-kring.

The first floor is surrounded by white walls and white furniture with the blue lighting giving the whole room an oomph. The first floor is good for those who wants to eat and spend a quiet time at the cafe. The first floor is where you can find the counter where you will have to line up, order and pay straight up for your drink/food. The bubblebee cafe, by the way, is a self-serving style cafe but they do have 1 or 2 personnel who can assist you with your needs or help serve your orders.

On the way to the second floor with Kringkring

The native inspired second floor:Kring, Lena, Riva, Erieech, Irene and Mercy

Although it was raining that night, those windows were not wet because of rain, the walls were integrated with flowing water. (for fung-shui perhaps?)

Riva and one of the few lovely chairs on the second floor. This specifically is much loved by most of the girls. Cheers to Riva, its her birthday today!

The second floor is quite interesting, the interiors is a mix of rich colors like fuchsia pink, purple, black etc. One part of the wall gives a native like feel, another adorned with circles highlighted with green lights and another wall painted with loud Indian red-violet color. The second floor was an interesting mix of interiors and styles, good for picture-taking backgrounds. A divider made out of black strings are used to separate the different parts of the second floor. The whole second floor shouts, ME! all throughout. The other parts of the second floor. The picture where kring is would be the part of the second floor which was more modern-contemporary in style. The group photo is also the much loved room on the second floor, the Japanese style with Indian-Moroccan feel was a sure hit!

I went on a Saturday and the next Monday after that. I had to go back with a friend to do a little chit-chat before she leaves for the big J in the next few weeks.

Drinks(Saturday):
Milky Taro for me and Erieech, Strawberry Slush for Riva, Mango Slush for Sai, Blueberry slush for Lena and uhhh wasn't able to notice mercy and kring-kring's order.
Food:Fries, Chili chicken, Calamares and a scoop of ice-cream.

Riva with her chili chicken and Elena with our drinks and the fries served in an interesting shaped plate.

Monday:
Milky Taro slush for me, Watermelon slush for kimmy and Strawberry slush for Steph.
Food: Chicken/Meat Mango Wrap with Salsa (though I think they had another name for it).
Steph with her strawberry slush in bubblebee size and kimmy with her watermelon slush in queenbee size.

Verdict?
I had to get the Milky Taro again but this time in slush cause the one I ordered last Saturday was in liquid form, I mean it didn't have the blended consistency that I was looking for. It tasted like Quickly's Taro Ice. If your the type who likes ube-ish and milk flavor in one, the Milky taro is a sure pick. With their fruit slushes they had fresh and the artificial flavored one - the artificial flavored ones tastes like the one that Zagu sells but I highly recommend getting the fresh ones cause it would feel more refreshing with every sip. Their drinks have two size variants : bubblebee and Queenbee. The prices range from Php 90 - 120.00. Cheap considering the beautiful ambiance (but if you do want the cheaper version, there is always Zagu in your favorite malls). Every drink includes Sago or pearls but you can always ask for it to be replaced by other variants such as nata de coco or jello.

Mango Chicken/Meat wrap with salsa - Php 120.00

Food:
Aside from snacks and appetizers, Bubblebee does serve main dishes like pasta, meat and chicken plus deserts. I haven't tried their main courses yet but looks like they also had interesting picks in their menu. The fries were so-so, they looked like KFC fries with a frenchies fries taste (the ready to cook fries you buy at the grocery stores). Their chili chicken was interesting, 6 cuts of mixed wings and drumstick chicken parts. The calamares, I've had better but cheaper ones. The mango chicken/meat wrap with salsa was interesting in the palate. It tasted like turon because of the sweet mango but contradicted with the salty-ness of the ground chicken&meat mix and the tangy taste of the salsa. I recommend that you taste the mango chicken/meat if your adventurous and experimental. The ice cream was good in the palate, I think it was homemade vanilla ice cream cause it wasn't too sweet, good to be added on top of your crepe. Price? Quite expensive. Especially for their main courses. Php 75 for a small serving of fries to as much as Php280 for a one meal.

Uno stacko with Sai | Karaoke time with the girls

The interesting part of the cafe is that they provide other means of entertainment aside from your usual chit-chats with friends. They have Uno Cards, playing cards and Uno Stacko for you to rent, Php 50 per hour and free if your receipt reaches 500 pesos. If your not too shy and confident enough for other people in the cafe to hear you sing, then you can avail of their karaoke for Php 200 per hour or get two hours free for orders worth Php 1000.

The staff?
FRIENDLY and warm. Their crew is always smiling and ready to assist you with your needs - especially if you need someone to take your pictures. When we went with my girlfriends last saturday, we were preparing for a birthday surprise for our friend lena and it was the owner herself who prepared and decorated with ice cream - she even lend us a candle from her birthday cake for my friend to blow (we had to return the candle after though).

All in all I'd rate my overall experience with the restaurant an 8 out of 10.

Downside?
The place is quite hard to find (some of my friends had fights with their boyfriends because they couldn't locate the cafe). Quickfix? The cafe is located in north reclamation area, near shell gas station, look for a building with a huge Bulldog KTV bar billboard and that is where bubblebee cafe is. If you don't have a private car, you need to go by taxi since there are no jeepneys that would pass by the place.

*This is my first resto rave but there will be more to come. I love to look for places where there is good food and good find.
